I hear all the time I want roses...my response is I hear all the time I want roses...my response is have you heard of my friend Lisi? Lisianthus, what I call the rose we can happily grow here. I would say the most hardy cut flower in bouquets, they last forever, can withstand heat, the petals don't brown or explode. They are far from practical to grow from seed, take 8+ months to be ready to cut, but then they are the most practical and gorgeous bloom ever:) #newmerciesflowerfarm #newmerciesfarmgirls #cashmerewa #grownnotflown #localflowers

Can you see it? Either a veeerrry dirty floor, or Can you see it? Either a veeerrry dirty floor, or a sweet little foot print that I found...yes on my kitchen floor. How did it get there? Well I guess I grew it, with a little spill from my little farmer girl that didn't get cleaned up and as the dirt accumulated it started to show. Her sweet footprint. Kinda like when you put glue down on paper then add the sparkles, can't see the glue shape until the sparkles stick. At least that's how I'm thinking about it😂 Yes I did finally mop yesterday, cleaned up that sweet little dirty footprint. It sure made the dirty floors a little sweeter in my mind:) There for sure is a winter and summer version of my home upkeep tolerance. Hey! Here's another way that we trying to outsmart Hey! Here's another way that we trying to outsmart the weeds this year. First year without weed tarping! If you missed why find my last real of me in my hat:) Planting everything at 6 inch spacing. Anything to decrease the weeds is a win in my book. Pros of tight spacing Less weeding Less root disturbance from pulling weeds More energy from the soil for the flowers Soil is covered which prevents erosion and keeps soil microbes happy Looks prettier😊 Longer stems as they reach for the light Cons Closer spacing can decrease air flow and increase disease pressure like powdery mildew More starts needed when you plant We will see what we think at the end of the season! Perfectly organized spikes and the colors:) The leaves are pokey for sure, but once those are stripped off these are the coolest textural flower to add to a bouquet, they also dry well too! Not necessarily an easy flower to start from seed, are a bi-annual and don't produce many flowers, I've also had so many of the roots rot over winter, so the hard fought flowers here I appreciate even more! #newmerciesflowerfarm #newmericesfarmgirls #equinops #cutflowerfarming #cashmerewa

This wedding bouquet was hard to start, the parameters were all the flowers blooming right now, in all the colors, how would I get all that goodness into one bouquet and have it not look like I just grabbed one of everything? Cooler tour🎉There's a lot going on in here today, Cooler tour🎉There's a lot going on in here today, weddings, wholesale arrangements for @sagemountainnaturalfoods, fresh paperwraps for @anjou_bakery tomorrow, and bucket for @thelocaleventco, and a few other bulk flower pick ups! So fun to have enough flowers, and maybe a few extras...ok a lot of extras @d.zbb 😂. The flower I couldn't remember here was Lavatera, and I forgot to mention the poppy pods, grasses, and Scabiosa!
